The Good Day Council Bluffs team
If you've been to Baxter Arena, look up: No. 20 now hangs there. UNO unfurled Jake Guentzel's jersey Friday before the Mavs faced St. Cloud State. He's the first UNO athlete to have his jersey retired, and he's a Stanley Cup and Olympic champion.
“It's just surreal. It's special. It's emotional.”
The Omaha native played three years at UNO and led the Mavs to the 2015 Frozen Four. He skated in 108 games and became the 14th player in program history to reach 100 points. UNO announced the honor on Oct. 27, along with this year's Hall of Fame class.
