New Visions Homeless Services expanded support for veterans by adding 10 transitional housing beds that passed VA inspection and are awaiting final coordination in Council Bluffs; it will also launch a peer based suicide prevention program mid-November and received a $100,000 award for homelessness diversion efforts.

Council Bluffs community members took part in a simulation on Thursday night at Mid-America Center that showed the challenges of securing housing including issues with healthcare and transportation.

Hosted by Hope Net Ministries, the exercise offered a first-hand look at hurdles faced by those experiencing homelessness.

Ken Cernin, whose car was towed during memorial services for fallen firefighter Charles Jones, turned his frustration into a donation + support for Jones' family during their time of need.
