- ➤ Minden developers updated the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors Tuesday on rebuilding after the EF-3 tornado in April 2024, noting that many homes and local businesses have been rebuilt while affordable housing and park improvements are underway — Mayor Kevin Zimmerman said the town is still seeking grants to bring families back. - ➤ Corporal Tony Rubek of the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office was honored on September 8 with a Community Star Award from Heartland Family Service’s Prevention Means Progress initiative — he said the award reflects volunteer-driven jail programs that offer faith support, substance abuse education, mental health classes and job readiness during inmates’ 27-day stays. Officials said the programs, supported by community partnerships, work to equip inmates with skills for a better life after release. Pottawattamie County
