  • A Missouri man, 48-year-old Michael Broyles, fired at officers during a traffic stop on Interstate 29 and after a brief chase exited his vehicle to shoot at them before being fatally shot by law enforcement—no officers were injured and the incident is under investigation.  KETV
  • Council Bluffs police arrested a 49-year-old man on Thursday who is accused of trying to kill his two housemates because of their ancestry — the case is under investigation.  The Daily Nonpareil

EDUCATION NEWS

  • School leaders in Council Bluffs, Lewis Central, Treynor and Underwood have begun using new state cellphone policies in classrooms—students in Council Bluffs must keep devices on silent or stored away while others turn in phones for the school day. Teachers and administrators report these measures aim to limit distractions—creating a more focused learning environment for all students.  The Daily Nonpareil
