- ➤ Encartele, a local technology company, is testing a new radar system installed on prison cell ceilings to monitor inmates' heart rate and breathing and alert staff when levels remain low—this innovation aims to reduce in-custody deaths while minimizing the need to wake inmates. Correctional officers and experts say the device will help understaffed jails improve safety and could be adopted nationwide within the next 10 years. KETV

- ➤ Mills County Engineer Jacob Ferro began helping Pottawattamie County’s Secondary Roads Department under a 30‑day sharing agreement approved Tuesday, and he will work six hours per week at $70 per hour—Mills County will be reimbursed $200 per hour.
