On Wednesday, gas prices in Council Bluffs rose above $4—4.03 compared to Nebraska's 4.02 and Iowa's 4.13, and a Creighton economist warned that prices are unlikely to drop soon.

The Food Bank for the Heartland said it will spend over $10,000 extra on gas this year amid rising fuel costs.

The nonprofit serves 93 counties and its eleven trucks travel more than 5,300 miles each week.
