CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Crews in rural Fremont County near Thurman finished a five-day forensic dig in May searching for wells where bodies might be buried after Lucy Studey-McKiddy claimed her father killed multiple victims, but they found no new evidence. A Los Angeles production company now says evidence points to the murder of Charlotte Studey (whose death was reclassified as undetermined) as legal battles over her case continue. The Daily Nonpareil

- ➤ The Council Bluffs Police Department has launched its first full-week Youth Police Academy for 26 junior high and high school students—teaching skills like self-defense, K-9 handling, and crime scene processing—aimed at building trust between officers and the community. Officer Amber Kennedy said the program may help spark interest in law enforcement careers. WOWT
- ➤ State Representative Matt Windschitl—who has served the Missouri Valley area as House Majority Leader since 2007—announced on Monday that he will run for Iowa's 4th Congressional District seat. He said he will focus on conservative policies including being pro-life, pro-ag, and pro-business while working to bring Iowa’s values to Washington. WOWT
