- ➤ Seven Council Bluffs students advanced to the national level of the National History Day contest; six projects came from Abraham Lincoln High School and one from Kirn Middle School, and they will represent the city at the event held outside Washington. The Daily Nonpareil

- ➤ Genie Pest Control in Council Bluffs reports a 25% rise in calls to spray lawns for ticks as pest teams work overtime to help residents (ER visits for tick bites statewide are at their highest since 2017). WOWT
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Iowa and Iowa State set kickoff times for their 2026 football season. Iowa State’s +home opener+ is scheduled for Sept. 5 at noon vs. SEMO while Iowa meets Northern Illinois at 3:15 p.m., and the Cy-Hawk game is set for Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m. on NBC. KETV
