CULTURE NEWS

  • On Tuesday, KETV got an exclusive look inside the Historic Squirrel Cage Jail in Council Bluffs, a rotating jail built in 1885 that once held up to 60 inmates in a 90,000 lb metal cage. Tour guide Trudy Beno explained the site features original graffiti and a kitchen used by the jailor’s wife—details that mark its unique past until its closing in 1969.  KETV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Tuesday marked 10 years since Omaha police officer Kerrie Orozco was killed in the line of duty — a legacy honored by the Community Foundation for Western Iowa through its annual memorial scholarship. The 2025 recipient, Grace Stienmetz, a Heartland Christian School graduate set to study at Bellevue University, will carry on her memory while the foundation also supports a first responders award.  KETV
