- ➤ The City of Council Bluffs will restart hydrant parties from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 10 to Aug. 8, with the Council Bluffs Fire Department opening a hydrant in a new neighborhood so kids can cool off with frozen treats—free to attend—and no registration is needed. - ➤ Council Bluffs officials announced that the popular Pawp-Up Pup Parks will return to Cochran Park beginning May 28 — pet owners will have a new chance to enjoy time outdoors with their dogs. The Daily Nonpareil

- ➤ Council Bluffs police said a motorcycle rider was critically injured in a road rage crash near 25th Street + West Broadway just before 10 p.m. while traveling westbound from 16th Street, and he remains at the University of Nebraska Medical Center with the incident under investigation. KETV

- ➤ Iowa lawmakers ended the 2025 session early Thursday at 6:31 a.m. by passing spending measures that include a new state family paid leave program, reduced unemployment taxes and funds for opioid addiction treatment—lawmakers worked for more than 20 hours on the final day while leaving property tax reform unaddressed. - ➤ Residents in Avoca met with water manager Tom Kallman to discuss the strict water restrictions now in effect. Kallman said a new pipeline from Council Bluffs to Pottawattamie County will pump Missouri River water — as local officials and residents voiced their concerns about mixed advisories and limited supply.
