- ➤ Nevaeha Ramirez Perez, a 15-year-old DJ Hero Award scholar, lost her mother Cecilia Perez when she was beaten outside Lincoln in November, and she has overcome her grief through therapy to decide to study at UNO and become a child psychologist. Ray Evans—responsible for her mother’s death—will spend the rest of his life in prison as thousands of local students prepare for graduation next week. KETV

- ➤ The Pottawattamie County Medical Examiner’s Office received the 2025 Partner Impact Gratitude Award from the Iowa Donor Network on May 13 for its work with organ and tissue donation. In 2024, it made 123 referrals that led to several donors (including skin, bone and tissue) to help many Iowans. Pottawattamie County
- ➤ U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra formed an exploratory committee Tuesday, May 13 to gauge support for a run for governor in 2026 — he filed paperwork with the ethics board Monday and is talking with potential donors as he considers his next steps. Feenstra said his move follows Governor Reynolds’ announcement that she would not seek re-election. WOWT
