- ➤ Iowa House Minority Leader Jennifer Konfrst announced her campaign for the 3rd Congressional District nomination on Thursday—she said her run will fight for local issues including agriculture and social security in a competitive race that follows significant political changes seen on Inauguration Day. Her campaign challenges decisions that have impacted farmers, families, veterans and retirees. WOWT
- ➤ State Auditor Rob Sand warned that Iowa faces serious fiscal challenges as declining revenue and rising spending work like a time bomb. His advisory noted that the state will see a deficit of more than $900 million in fiscal year 2026—raising concerns about the future of the Taxpayer Relief Fund. WOWT
- ➤ Iowa Legal Aid lost many volunteer lawyer hours, dropping from 17,800 in 2015 to 5,400 in 2024, which means many low-income Iowans must handle civil cases on their own.
