Twice daily weather balloon launches will resume at the National Weather Service office in Valley, Nebraska, and additional temporary meteorologists will join next week, Rep. Mike Flood said Friday after surveying hail damage in Fremont, Nebraska.
The new staffing is expected to improve forecasts for western Iowa — data from the balloon launches will help Council Bluffs residents prepare for severe weather.
