  • Narrows River Park reopened today after flood damage in 2024 affected its operation. The park at 2500 North 25th St is open from April through October.  The Daily Nonpareil

  • The DNR plans prescribed burns in Pottawattamie, Mills and Fremont counties—residents within 3 miles could notice smoke.  The Daily Nonpareil
  • A public forum to address water resource concerns along the Missouri River will be held Saturday, April 5 at 1:30 p.m. at the Council Bluffs Public Library, sponsored by the American Association of University Women.  The Daily Nonpareil

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Karen Davis lost her legal recourse and must remove all dogs from her kennel by April 25—the court ruled that her zoning and home business claims did not stop the shutdown. Neighbors complained about barking dogs while her puppies are already sold and her remaining 15 adult German Shepherds will soon be rehomed.  WOWT
  • U.S. Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins said she is excited as she reviewed Gov Reynolds’ waiver request for a new summer food program in Iowa—Reynolds asked to replace the federal $40 monthly card with a food box per child and a decision is expected soon.  WOWT
  • U.S. Rep. Mike Flood said the Nebraska Valley weather station paused its twice-daily weather balloon launches on Monday due to staff shortages and cost-cutting, and officials warn the loss of critical data may reduce forecast accuracy for severe storms in our region — local communities might receive less reliable warnings when storms approach.  The Daily Nonpareil
  • The City of Council Bluffs will launch a new online portal for permitting, licensing, and inspections on April 22—designed to simplify access to local services. Residents will be able to track applications and complete forms online—streamlining government procedures.  The Daily Nonpareil
