Good morning, Council Bluffs.

On Wednesday night, the Lopez family was traveling to a Council Bluffs hotel when a city snowplow allegedly drove too fast and sent a wall of snow from an overpass onto their truck—shattering their windshield, leaving them without transportation and facing costly medical care while power remains out.

A former Council Bluffs firefighter pleaded guilty to embezzling tens of thousands of dollars from the city's fire union and was sentenced to two years probation and restitution after repaying over $90,000—union officials said he betrayed public trust and could face up to 10 years in prison if he violates probation.
